Recommendation to receive and file report on attendance at the League of California Cities 2006 Annual Conference and Exposition in San Diego, CA.

DISCUSSION
On September 6 to September 9, 2006, I attended the League of California Cities 2006 Annual Conference and Exposition in San Diego, California.

The League of California Cities is an association of California city officials who work together to enhance their knowledge and skills, exchange information, and combine resources so that they may influence policy decisions that affect cities.

The conference offered a host of sessions and discussion forums designed to expand the knowledge of attendees responsible for planning and managing the futures of their cities, with a particular emphasis on topical issues including ethics in public service, strategic planning, storm water regulation, building communities, public/private partnerships, WiFi technology, energy conservation, infrastructure funding, code enforcement, pension reform, and much more.

Additionally, during this conference, the League bestowed its "Grand Prize" upon the City of Long Beach's Recreation, Parks and Marine Department and an additional honor on the City's Department of Health and Humans Services.

Recommendation: To receive and file report on attendance at the League of California Cities 2006 Annual Conference and Exposition in San Diego, CA.
