DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to amend Contract No. 34946 (Contract) with Axon Enterprise, Inc., to allow for a purchase of additional Body Worn Camera (BWC) equipment, related accessories, supporting software, and digital video storage for the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD).

In April 2018, the LBPD issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for BWC equipment and technology to be provided at no cost to the City for a one-year trial period. At its May 15, 2018 meeting, the City Council adopted Specifications No. RFP PD18-090, awarding a contract to Axon Enterprise, Inc., to furnish and deliver BWC equipment, accessories, and software support for the no cost one-year trial period. In August 2018, the LBPD received approximately 250 BWC units and deployed this technology to the North and South Patrol Divisions. At the end of the one-year trial period, staff communicated to the City Council its recommendation to implement BWC technology in the remaining Patrol Divisions for field investigative and sworn personnel assigned to service contract groups.
