TITLE
Recommendation to authorize City Manager, or designee, to accept an easement deed for sidewalk widening adjacent to the California National Guard Armory located at 2100 Redondo Avenue. (District 5)
DISCUSSION
In response to citizen concerns about the accessibility of the east side of Redondo Avenue adjacent to the California National Guard Armory (Armory), City staff met with Armory staff regarding the need to widen and construct sidewalks along their frontage. Subsequently, a project was awarded to construct sidewalk improvements with the understanding that the State of California, acting through their Department of the Military, would provide the required sidewalk easement at no cost to the City. The proposed dedication is shown on the attached Exhibit A.
This matter was reviewed by Deputy City Attorney Linda Trang on November 23, 2009 and by Budget and Performance Management Bureau Manager David Wodynski on November 20, 2009.
TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
City Council action on this matter is requested on December 15, 2009 in order to complete the required sidewalk widening.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no fiscal impact to the City by receiving the easement from the State of California. The sidewalk widening project is fully funded with Prop C funds and is budgeted in the Fiscal Year 2010 adopted Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
SUGGESTED ACTION
Approve recommendation.
