TITLE

Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Public Works Department in the amount of $13,057, offset by the Fourth Council District one-time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to support the Stearns Street Rehabilitation Median Island project; and

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department to offset a transfer to the Public Works Department.

DISCUSSION

The median island on Steams Street adjacent to the Los Altos Shopping Center is deteriorating. This rehabilitation project will consist of removing the low block wall, replacing broken light fixtures and other electrical work. In addition, drought tolerant landscape will be planted and repairs to the current irrigation system.

This matter was reviewed by Budget Manager Grace H. Yoon, on September 19, 2019.

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS

[Timing Considerations]

FISCAL IMPACT

This recommendation provides District Priority Funds to support the rehabilitation of the Steams Street Median Island. The total appropriation increase of $13,057 in the General Fund Group in the Public Works Department will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of the Fourth Council District one-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department. It is anticipated that this project will have a minimal impact on staff hours beyond normal budgeted scope of duties and a minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.
