TITLE
Recommendation to receive and file report from the Arts Council for Long Beach.
DISCUSSION
The Arts Council for Long Beach was established by the City to respond to the needs of the local arts community and develop cultural resources. As the city's arts agency, the Arts Council receives annual city contracts, as well as support from individuals, corporations and foundations, to "organize, encourage and enhance the cultural environment" in Long Beach. The Arts Council acts as a coordinating and educational organization to "foster, promote, encourage and increase the knowledge, appreciation and practice of the arts in the City of Long Beach."
The Council has requested an opportunity to address the Council and provide an update on its current activities and goals.
