TITLE
Recommendation to adopt resolution designating the ballot listing of the candidates which have been duly nominated for the City’s Primary Nominating Election on Tuesday, June 7, 2022. (Citywide)
DISCUSSION
On February 1, 2022, the City Council adopted Resolution No. RES-22-0017 proclaiming, calling and giving notice of a Primary Nominating Election for the nomination and/or election of candidates for the offices of the Mayor, City Attorney, City Auditor, City Prosecutor, City Council Districts 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9.
The candidate nomination period closed on Friday, March 11, 2022, for the offices of City Auditor, City Prosecutor, Council Districts 1 and 7. The candidate nomination period for the offices of Mayor, City Attorney, Council Districts 3, 5, and 9 were extended to Wednesday, March 16, 2022, as directed in Elections Code Section 10225 due to no incumbent filing.
The City Clerk is required to submit the attached resolution for adoption pursuant to City Charter Section 1907, which serves to certify the list of candidates who were duly nominated, and identify the order in which their names will appear on the official ballot.
TIMING CONSIDERATIONS
Approval of the recommended action at this time will allow the Los Angeles Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk to prepare the official ballot, sample ballot, and sample ballot booklet.
FISCAL IMPACT
The Office of the City Clerk budget contains the appropriations necessary to conduct the Tuesday, June 7, 2022, Primary Nominating Election.
