Recommendation to receive and file the Long Beach Hometown Heroes Banner Program presentation.

DISCUSSION
The Long Beach Hometown Heroes Project is a joint effort between the Office of Fifth District Councilwoman Gerrie Schipske and the Long Beach Rosie the Riveter Foundation. Modeled after the City of Huntington Beach Hometown Heroes Project, this Project provides friends and families of Long Beach men and women who are serving or have served in the United States military the opportunity to have a banner displayed in their honor along Clark Avenue between Carson Avenue and Spring Street. The banners will be hung on the light poles for up to one year and then presented to the families who sponsored them. Families can purchase a banner for $270 by contacting the Office of Councilwoman Gerrie Schipske.

On Saturday, December 10th, 2011, the Long Beach Rosie the Riveter Foundation launched the program by honoring of the 14 Long Beach men who have given their lives in service to our City and Country while serving in the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts. These banners are on display at the Long Beach Rosie the Riveter Park, corner of Clark Avenue and Conant Street. The 14 men honored are:
