DISCUSSION
Larry Herrera-Cabrera has served as Long Beach City Clerk since 2002. He retires at the end of April. His work on behalf of the City has been exemplary, and he has provided outstanding leadership and oversight.
Mr. Herrera-Cabrera implemented several reforms that have made the City's electoral processes more efficient and transparent. Under his leadership, Long Beach implemented early voting, became the only city in the State of California with its own electoral system, and the first city to use electronic form 700 filing. Mr. Herrera-Cabrera's use of technology and his commitment to transparency and efficiency will continue to benefit the City for years to come.
Mr. Herrera-Cabrera is respected and admired by his colleagues, his staff, and the City leadership. His tenure has been extremely positive for Long Beach, and he will be deeply missed. It is appropriate for the Council to honor him with a presentation and proclamation.
