TITLE
Recommendation to adopt Specifications No. PA-01509 and award a contract to Ferguson Enterprises Inc., for furnishing and delivering plumbing supplies, in the annual contract amount of $452,000 for the period commencing September 1, 2009, with the option of renewing for one additional one-year period, at the discretion of the City Manager with the option to add expenditures up to 10 percent (or $45,200) above the contract amount, if necessary and if funds are available. DISCUSSION
City Council approval is requested to enter into an annual contract with Ferguson Enterprises Inc., for furnishing and delivering plumbing supplies as part of the City of Long Beach's operating expenses for the repair, replacement and maintenance of various facilities. The award combines the estimated annual requirements for Citywide departments in securing pricing at the highest possible discount available.
The bid was advertised on June 4, 2009, and 18 potential bidders specializing in plumbing supplies were notified; six are Woman-owned Business Enterprises (WBEs) , none are Minority-owned Business Enterprises (MBEs), two are Small Business Enterprises (SBEs) and two are Long Beach businesses. The bid document was made available from the Purchasing Division, located on the seventh floor of City Hall, and the Division's website at www.lonabeach.aov/purchasina. A bid announcement was also included in the Purchasing Division's weekly update on Open Bid Opportunities, which is sent to 30 local, minority and women's business groups. Three bids were received and a public bid opening occurred on June 23, 2009. Ferguson Enterprises, Inc., of Long Beach, CA (local) is the lowest responsible bidder.
