TITLE
Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $4,000, offset by the Sixth Council District One-Time District Priority Funds transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a donation to Love Beyond Limits to support their Summer Youth Program; and
Decrease appropriations of the Sixth Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $4,000 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.
DISCUSSION
Love Beyond Limits (LBL) is hosting the Play at King Park Summer Youth Program until the end of July 2022. LBL provides enrichment and leadership development opportunities to allow youth to create and mold their own unique experiences through wide educational and leadership activities and resources. Donation to LBL’s summer youth program will go towards supporting fun and creative outdoor activities for middle school and high school students at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park, and after school enrichment programs including the Black Swimmers Initiative and the Black Resource Center.
This matter has been reviewed by Budget Manager Grace H. Yoon on July 1, 2022.
STATEMENT OF URGENCY:
This urgent item is being submitted through supplemental agenda to allow for timely funds processing.
FISCAL IMPACT
This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution to support Love Beyond Limits’ Summer Youth Program. The total appropriation increase of $4,000 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of the Sixth Council District One-time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department. The recommendation is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff hours beyond the budgeted scope of duties and is expected to have minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.
