A donation to Love Beyond Limits will go towards supporting A Dream for King Park. A Dream for King Park is the kick-off event for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park Vision Plan, co-hosted by Love Beyond Limits. The event includes free meals, opportunity drawings, prizes, and will introduce the community to how residents can participate in the future visioning of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park.

The United Cambodian Community (UCC) is an experienced community engagement organization that is working with community leaders, a Steering Committee and an Honorary Committee to generate ideas for the operations of the Cambodian American Cultural Center. A donation to UCC will go towards supporting the Cambodian Cultural Center Visioning Process which consists of monthly meetings, subcommittee meetings, key stakeholder interviews, surveys, community roundtables and events, informational workshops, and site tours, from June 2022 through March 2023.

Khmer Parent Association (KPA) is hosting the 1st Annual Khmer Community Literacy Project at the Mark Twain Library Community room. KPA has partnered with the National Resources Center for Asian Languages (NRCAL) to publish stories of 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.  A donation to KPA will go towards supporting the event.

FISCAL IMPACT

This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide funds to support local nonprofits’ community events. The total appropriation increase of $6,875 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of Sixth Council District One-Time District Priority Funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department. This recommendation is anticipated to require a minimal level of staff hours beyond normal budgeted scope of duties and have a minimal impact on City Council priorities.  There is no local job impact associated with this item.
