Citizens Advisory Commission on Disabilities

Appointments

 

                     Alice Bruns - Interim Term through June 2018 (to fill Vacancy left by Jessica Marquez)

 

Alice Bruns is the Lead Job Developer at Disabled Resources Center, Inc., where she works to find gainful employment for people with disabilities. She would like to serve on the commission to advocate, promote and represent independent living for persons with disabilities in the Long Beach community. She holds a Master of Public Policy and Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Long Beach State University.

 

                     Nubia Flores Cedeño (CD 3) - Interim Term through June 2018 (to fill Vacancy left by Daryl Crouse)

 

Nubia Flores Cedeño is an active special education parent advocate and a community organizer from the 3rd District. Nubia is currently a Board Member for LBUSD's Community Advisory Committee, where she is committed to supporting programs that serve children with special needs. She would like to work with the City to build a more inclusive community for citizens of all abilities.

 

Economic Development Commission

                     Jessica Schumer (CD 3) - Interim Term through June 2018 (to fill Vacancy left by Kristi Allen)

 

A CD 3 resident, Jessica Schumer is a board certified, practicing, primary care pediatrician and the Assistant Medical Director of School Based Health at The Children's Clinic. Jessica is engaged in child health system transformation, economic development and health policy. As a community member, she was involved in the formation of the Economic Development Blueprint and is excited to bring a public health perspective to the Commission's work.

                     Steven Neal (CD 9) - Interim Term through December 2018 (to fill Vacancy left by Nancy Pfeffer)

 

A former Councilmember for the 9th District, Steven Neal is the Senior Pastor of LIFE Gospel Ministries. Steven previously served as a board member of the Southern California Association of Governments, the Pacific Gateway Workforce Investment Board and the Long Beach Freedom Schools program. He currently serves on the Transactions and Use Tax Citizens Advisory Committee.

 

Technology & Innovation Commission

                     Parisa Vinzant (CD 2) - Interim Term through June 2018 (to fill Vacancy left by Andrew Schrock)

 

Parisa Vinzant, a CD 2 resident, is a strategy consultant and entrepreneur coach for small- and midsized tech companies, specializing in the medical and biotech fields. A trained investigative journalist, Parisa's hope is to work with the commission to help make technological programming and resources more inclusive, and to address the digital divide in Long Beach so all residents have access to high-speed internet.

 

                     Evan Marquardt (CD 1) - Interim Term through June 2018 (to fill Vacancy left by Roger Howard)

 

Evan Marquardt is an Aerodynamicist at Faraday Future, an electric car startup. As an avid proponent of emerging technologies, Evan is particularly interested in serving on the commission to ensure that modernization and economic growth are beneficial to all, especially through advances in public Wi-Fi hotspots, free computer literacy courses and municipal broadband. Evan lives in the 1st District.
