Board of Health and Human Services


Silene St. Bernard

Dr. St Bernard is a veterinarian with experience in many aspects of pet and animal care. She has been a speaker and teacher and numerous colleges and universities, and established her own veterinary business. Dr. St. Bernard served as President of the American Association of Industry Veterinarians and on the boards of various veterinary organizations and community groups. She has also coached football in Long Beach.


Menchie Caliboso

Menchie has experience providing therapy to low-income children and families, as well as adult psychiatric patients. She is currently completing her Master’s Degree in psychological research, where she has worked on a stress management program for low-income African American mothers.


Citizens’ Advisory Commission on Disabilities


Daryl Crouse

Daryl has been a certified sign language interpreter for more than 15 years. He has started two small businesses and is a licensed attorney. He serves on the Board of Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness and is Board Secretary for the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc.


Cultural Heritage Commission


Craig Smith

Craig is a member of the Board at Rancho Los Cerritos. He is retired as a faculty member at Cal State Long Beach, where he chaired four different departments. Craig served on the Cal State University Board of Trustees. From 1988 to 2015, he was Director of the Center for First Amendment Studies at CSULB.


Economic Development Commission


Lincoln Bauer

Lincoln is a Managing Partner at Innovatory, and serves as WE Labs's partner for Community Relations & Initiatives. Lincoln is a founder and serves on the board of Uncoded, and active in a number of other Long Beach community organizations and efforts including the Local Business Alliance. Lincoln holds a graduate degree in political economy.

 

Homeless Services Advisory Committee


Allison Kripp

Allison is a small business owner in Downtown Long Beach, and has been active in supporting and advocating for homeless residents for several years, volunteering her time at local nonprofits and engaging in outreach and education. She is trained in mental health first aid, won the Long Beach Hero Award in 2014, and is the current Mrs. Long Beach.

 

Human Relations Commission


LaDawn Best

LaDawn has lived in Long Beach for more than 20 years, serving as an advocate, case manager, and community educator in the areas of health, domestic violence, and leadership, with a particular focus on girls, people of color, and the LGBTQ community. She is current President and Chair of the LGBTQ center Long Beach. LaDawn has served on numerous Boards and Committees that work to address domestic violence and other health issues. She holds a Master’s Degree in Education, Leadership and Change from Antioch University


Amy Eriksen

Amy is a lifelong Long Beach resident. She is the Executive Director of Angel’s Gate Cultural Center, and holds a Master’s Degree in Organizational Management. Amy owned a small business in Long Beach for several years and is a Leadership Long Beach graduate (2013).


Kimmy Maniquis

Kimmy has more than 13 years of experience in youth development in urban communities and schools. She is Associate Executive Director of the California Conference for Equality and Justice and has expertise in the areas of ethnic studies, restorative justice, and conflict mediation. Kimmy holds a Master’s Degree in Asian American Studies.

Zoe A Nicholson

Zoe is a long time writer, researcher, and published author. She is a member of Clergy & Laity United for Economic Justice, and Convener and President of Pacific Shore NOW. Zoe holds a Master’s Degree in Social Ethics from USC.

 

Sustainable City Commission


Donna Bergeron-Birge

Donna Bergeron-Birge is a teacher in the Long Beach Unified School teacher. She has served as a community volunteer for many years. She is recycling coordinator at Hill Middle School and was cofounder of the Lincoln heights Neighborhood Association. Donna was 2003 Teacher of the Year.

 

Veterans Advisory Commission


Ryan Antes

Ryan is a combat veteran and law clerk living in Long Beach. Ryan holds a Juris Doctorate and is a member of the State Bar. He served as an Airborne Ranger in Afghanistan and Iraq. Ryan attended Cal State Long Beach.


Sylvia Contreras

Sylvia is a property owner who has lived in Long Beach for more than 20 years. She has previously worked as a claims adjuster and controller, where she managed more than 100 cases at a time and negotiated settlements and claims.


Rebecca Davidson

Rebecca is a veteran and business owner. She is the Administrator of Harvey House, a Residential Community for Elders. Rebecca has a great deal of experience in Information Technology and holds a Master’s Degree in Divinity.


Juanita Doplemore

Juanita is a veteran and a military spouse. She serves as a Global Service Analyst for FedEx and as organized family readiness events with the US Army. She received the Army Achievement Medal in 2002 and 2003. In 2016 she was awarded the Girl Scouts Adult Volunteer Honor Pin.


Carlos Gonzalez

Carlos is Chief Compliance Officer at PATH - People Assisting the Homeless, where he was previously Managing Director and Director of Programs. Carlos holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.


Mike Shaknovich

Mike served in the US Marine Corps from 2001-2006. He is founder and COO of the Emissary Media Group, based in Long Beach, and was a crucial organizer of Beach Streets 2016. He is also the onsite transportation manager for Coachella and Stagecoach festivals.


Josh Smith

Josh is a veteran and works for the US Department of Veteran Affairs as a Health Care Education Specialist. He holds a Master’s Degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. Josh has six years of project management experience in the training and development field.


Kiniko Willingham

Kiniko is a Long Beach homeowner and Air Force veteran. She works as a social worker for the US Department of Veteran Affairs. She holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work and is a current Doctoral candidate in Health Care Administration.
