TITLE

Recommendation to increase appropriations in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department by $1,000, offset by the Seventh Council District One-time District Priority Funds, transferred from the Citywide Activities Department to provide a contribution to Centro CHA to support a Back-to-School Community Resource Fair and Vaccination Clinic on August 24, 2023; and

Decrease appropriations in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department by $1,000 to offset a transfer to the City Manager Department.

DISCUSSION

Councilmember Roberto Uranga would like to support Centro CHA’s Back-to-School Community Resource Fair and Vaccination Clinic in West Long Beach.

The event is in collaboration with the Long Beach Health and Human Services Department, The Children's Clinic, and other community who will work together to share resources, distribute school supplies, and administer TDAP, Varicella, and COVID-19 vaccines. There will be over 15 community partners in attendance providing resources and program information that is essential for all families.

This matter has been reviewed by Budget Analyst Joe R. Guerrero on August 10, 2023.

TIMING CONSIDERATIONS

This item requires urgency to allow a timely transfer of funds.

FISCAL IMPACT

This recommendation requests the City Manager to provide a contribution to Centro CHA to support the Back-to-School Community Resource Fair and Vaccination Clinic as written above. The total appropriation increase of $1,000 in the General Fund Group in the City Manager Department will be offset by a decrease of appropriation of Seventh Council District One-time District Priority funds in the General Fund Group in the Citywide Activities Department. This recommendation is anticipated to have minimal impact on staff hours beyond the budgeted scope of duties and a minimal impact on existing City Council priorities.

SUGGESTED ACTION

Approve recommendation.

Respectfully Submitted,

ROBERTO URANGA, COUNCILMEMBER
